This 34-year-old woman was sentenced in August 2023 to life in prison for the murder of seven premature newborns in the intensive care unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital where she worked, in the north-west of England, between 2015 and 2016.
Lucy Letby, billed as the worst child killer in modern UK history, was also found guilty of seven attempted baby murders.
Cheshire Police said on Wednesday they had questioned the ex-prison nurse over other suspicious newborn deaths and non-fatal accidents “at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital.” .
This is the first time that the police have investigated events that took place at Liverpool Hospital, where she trained during her studies.
Lucy Letby, who was arrested in 2020, has always maintained her innocence. She tried to appeal her conviction, but the British courts refused her the opportunity to do so.
During the trial, it was explained that the ex-nurse injected air intravenously into the babies, used their nasogastric tubes to send air or an overdose of milk into their stomachs.
Since mid-September, a public inquiry has been taking place in Liverpool, in the north of England, to shed light on the responsibility of the hospital and doctors, who had received alerts before the arrest of Lucy Letby.
