Barely time to breathe before the Genève-Servette gets back into the saddle. The Eagles host Davos this Thursday at the Vernets ice rink from 7:45 p.m.! Facing the championship leader, Jan Cadieux’s men want to extend their series of victories to continue to climb the rankings.
4 victories in a row in the championship, 3 in the Champions Hockey League, life is good at the end of the lake at the moment. Genève-Servette has regained its colors, it has found its injured players and can now pursue the Playoffs! 9th in the standings with 33 points in 23 matches, the Garnet are only 8 points from the Top6 and still have up to three games less than their opponents. A situation which could turn out to be good as long as Jan Cadieux’s men continue to string together victories. The December break arrives next week but GSHC still has three games to play before then! It starts with a big challenge: the arrival of the championship leader in Les Vernets! Indeed, HC Davos is making the trip to Geneva this Thursday. A clash between two of the most in-form teams of the moment.
Davos, this scoring machine
Graubünden have the best attack in the country with 3.38 goals scored per game. They have two of the three top scorers in the league with Stanksky and Zadina (16 and 15 goals) while Tambellini is just behind with his 11 goals. For comparison, Markus Granlund and Teemu Hartikainen have 13 and 12 goals respectively. Perhaps the most impressive thing about these offensive statistics is that the Davos are not even that strong in powerplay (7th in the league with 20%). On the other hand, they are really impressive in 5v5 play and scoring chances come from everywhere. If we mentioned the team’s best scorers, behind it it’s solid with Corvi, Honka, Nussbaumer, Kessler etc. Josh Holden has a great team and a great challenge for Jan Cadieux and his staff.
Sakari Manninen untenable
If the GSHC is doing better, it is also largely thanks to Sakari Manninen. The team’s TopScorer is currently playing at an exceptional level. If he scores goals and assists very regularly (28 points in 23 games), he is also uncompromising defensively and performs as well on the powerplay as on the boxplay. He is a real poison for opponents and despite his size, no one can move him in front of the goalkeeper. Sakari Manninen best represents this revival of the GSHC. He hates losing, he absolutely wants to win, and his energy is contagious. With Markus Granlund and Vincent Praplan, he forms one of the best lines in the league! And thanks to this work, this allows Jan Cadieux to be able to put Teemu Hartikainen on another line to homogenize the Garnet squad. A boon for Genève-Servette!
This match between Genève-Servette and Davos will be played at the Vernets ice rink from 7:45 p.m. this Thursday. The meeting can be followed live and in full on MySports and Radio Lac (91.8).
