A gas leak detected Tuesday evening in Digne-les-Bains deprived 600 residents of gas. The repairs have been completed, but gradual recovery requires the intervention of GRDF technicians at each customer's home.
Six hundred inhabitants of Digne-les-Bains, capital of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, are deprived of gas since the early evening of Tuesday December 3after the detection of a gas leak by a GRDF team. Politicians quickly intervened to establish a security perimeter, according to BFM DICI, but no evacuation was necessary.
The GRDF teams managed to locate the leak on a pipe on the Allée des Fontainiers. Technicians from Marseille then came to carry out the repairs, according to La Provence. “In order to allow emergency work by GRDF, gas distribution has been suspended in the following districts: Les Arches, Les Epinettes, Boulevard Victor Hugo and part of the city center and old center”, according to the town hall of Digne -les-Bains.
Gas re-commissioning has started in Digne-les-Bains
“Repairs in the town of Digne-les-Bains are completed. Our technicians are currently traveling to each customer's home to restore the gas supply,” indicates GRDF in a note published on its website this Wednesday, December 4 at 11 a.m.
The return to service can only be done gradually. GRDF technicians will have to go to each individual meter, taking into account the specificities of gas distribution. This requires the presence of the occupants of the accommodation on site. In the event of absence, a notice will be left with a procedure to follow. This is why the date for the complete return to service of gas in all of the impacted neighborhoods has not been determined.
Residents can follow the progress of the return to service by providing their contact details on the dedicated GRDF website to be informed in real time.
