A member of the Fleurons du Québec since 2018, Waterloo continues to stand out with its four out of five fleurons, reflecting remarkable horticultural development in the majority of evaluation criteria. Let us highlight the exemplary work of La Paysanne ND, specialist in landscaping, who brilliantly takes up the challenge of bringing flowers to the community every spring for several years.
Recognition for the Waterloo Nature Reserve
In addition to renewing its flagships, Waterloo was ranked among the finalists for the awards Recognition 2024: Citizen mobilizationin the category of municipalities of 5,000 inhabitants and more. This nomination for “the most beautiful citizen mobilization” highlights the exceptional project of the Waterloo Nature Reserve and its network of hiking trails.
The result of a unique collaboration between the City, businesses, regional organizations and, above all, citizens, this project is a model of community mobilization. The trails, largely developed by volunteers, offer tangible benefits for the community. By encouraging sustainable development, the protection of natural environments and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits, this natural area accessible to all contributes to collective well-being. This reserve, protected in perpetuity by the municipality, eloquently illustrates the strength of collaboration between the City and the members of its community.
The City of Waterloo warmly thanks and congratulates everyone involved in these great achievements!
