The Chevalier Morales firm received an Award of Merit Canadian Architect for the design of the Mont-Laurier library project. The prizes are awarded annually according to criteria of architectural excellence in terms of conceptual, material and/or procedural innovation and exemplarity and with regard to sustainable development, among others.
The library stands out in particular for its unique concept focusing on the omnipresence of wood, highlighting the importance of this resource in the historical development of the region and local industry.
“We are very pleased that the Chevalier Morales firm is the recipient of an Award of Merit as part of the Mont-Laurier library project, a necessary public infrastructure for the community. Located at the entrance to the city center, the library will stand as an important jewel of the City thanks to its structure that is both innovative and imposing. » underlines the mayor of the city of Mont-Laurier, Daniel Bourdon.
The project represents an investment of $13.2 million for the City of Mont-Laurier, through various grants obtained, notably through the Cultural Infrastructure Development Assistance Program of the Government of Quebec and Canada and the program of innovation in wood construction from the Quebec government.
