There you go, it’s (soon) over! The 2024 season is coming to an end with this last meeting of the year, the Abu Dhabi GP (December 6-8), 24th and final round of a long and intense campaign. As usual since 2014, it is the Yas Marina circuit which hosts the final race of the championship, while the circuit celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
Present on the Formula 1 calendar since 2009, the Abu Dhabi GP was the first to take place at dusk, with a daytime start and nighttime finish. In 2021, the circuit – now 5.281 km long – has seen big changes with the removal of the chicane after turn 4 and the triple chicane at the end of the second straight. There will be two DRS zones this year, on the two main straights including the one after the turn 5 hairpin.
Among the drivers on the grid, only three have already won in Abu Dhabi: Lewis Hamilton (2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019), Valtteri Bottas (2017) and Max Verstappen, who remains on four consecutive victories on the Yas track Marina (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023). The Dutchman also holds the race lap record, with a time of 1’26″103 established… in 2021, during his first world title.
