► An Israeli drone hits a Lebanese army post

An Israeli drone targeted a Lebanese army post in the Hermel region on Monday, December 2, far from the border with Israel, in eastern Lebanon, injuring one soldier, the army said.

“An enemy drone targeted an army bulldozer which was carrying out work in an army position”injuring a soldier, the army said. Several Israeli strikes have targeted Lebanon since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into force on November 27.

► Israeli-American soldier declared dead, his body taken to Gaza

The Israeli army announced Monday, December 2, the death of one of its soldiers, killed on October 7, 2023 during the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and whose body was taken to Gaza, where it is still located.

The army authorized the publication of the name of “Captain Omer Maxime Neutra, aged 21 at his death (…) fallen soldier (whose body is) detained by a terrorist organization”indicates a military press release.

The Families Forum, the main Israeli association of relatives of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, praised the memory of the young man in a statement, indicating that Omer Neutra was born and raised in the United States before emigrating alone to Israel and join the army.

► The United Kingdom will increase its aid to Gaza

The British government will increase by 19 million pounds (around 22.8 million euros) its humanitarian aid for Gaza where the situation is “catastrophic”announced Monday, December 2, Minister of Development Anneliese Dodds, who is going to Cairo for a conference on the subject.

“Gazans are in dire need of food and shelter ahead of winter. The Cairo conference will be an opportunity (…) to propose concrete solutions to the humanitarian crisis”said the minister.

► UNRWA announces suspension of aid delivery through a key crossing point from Israel

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) announced on Sunday that it was suspending the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip from a key crossing point with Israel, as the delivery had become « impossible ».

“We are suspending the delivery of aid through Kerem Shalom, the main crossing point for humanitarian aid into Gaza”a “difficult decision (…) as hunger worsens rapidly” in the war-torn territory for almost 14 months, the head of Unrwa, Philippe Lazzarini, told X.

► Israeli army says it killed Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon

The Israeli army said on Sunday it had killed Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, days after a fragile ceasefire between Israel and the Iranian-backed Lebanese movement came into force.

In a press release, the army indicated that it had acted in the last 24 hours to “eliminate threats” in “violation of the conditions of the ceasefire agreement”. She specified that her troops, present in southern Lebanon, had “identified” and shot “several armed terrorists near a church and eliminated them”.

For its part, the official Lebanese agency Ani reported a “continued violation of the ceasefire”citing in particular strikes on Sunday on the border villages of Yaroun and Khiam and “automatic weapons fire” in other sectors.

► Four Palestinians killed in the West Bank

The Palestinian Health Ministry announced the death of four people near Jenin, in the north of the occupied West Bank, where the Israeli army says it has carried out a military operation.

The Israeli army said in a joint statement with the Shin Bet, the internal security service, that its air force had “attacked and eliminated a terrorist cell which had carried out several armed attacks” in the Gilboa area, in the northern West Bank.
