The assize court de la Manche opens its last session from 2024 between December 2 and December 13with, in the role, four trialsthe first for murderthe other three for matters of rapes whose plaintiffs are all minors under 15 years old.
A murder in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët in 2020
From December 2, three women appear before the Assize Court made up of the president, her two assessors and the six jurors, one of them, 34 years old today, for murder and fireand the other two, 28 years old and 59 years old, for failure to assist a person in danger.
Thursday June 25, 2020, as an apartment began to catch fire in rue de Paris, in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, three people fled, according to what witnesses were able to see. Among them is a young woman, slightly burned and who was later transported to the emergency room of Saint-Hilaire hospital.
These were people from the neighborhood, who, alerted by the smoke, called the firefighters. They had specified that, of the four apartments located on the upper floors, only one was occupied: that of a man in his fifties. In the burning apartment, the firefighters actually discovered a seriously burned man which is then helicoptered to absolute emergency to the Nantes University Hospital (Loire-Atlantique).
Given the circumstances, the Coutances public prosecutor's office does not exclude the criminal trail. At the end of July, the three women who had been seen fleeing the evening of the fire were questioned and then placed in custody. custody. One of them is then placed in pre-trial detention : she was accused of having deliberately sprayed the victim with a flammable liquid then for igniting it.
In October 2020, the man died from his injuries. The main protagonist of the drama is then accused of murder. She faces a maximum penalty of 30 years of criminal imprisonment. Verdict on Wednesday December 4.
Minors accused of rape
The juvenile court will sit twice during this session. This means that those accused of rape were minors at the time of the alleged acts. On December 5 and 6, the rapes reported as having been committed by the minor in the Montebourg region date back to the years 1998-2001. Today, the accused and the complainant are adults.
The other trial which will be held from December 11 to 13 will examine facts of rape andsexual assault committed in 2018 and 2019 on a minor under 15 years old in Cherbourg, in the Hague and the Val de Saire. These two trials will take place in camera.
Another trial for rape and sexual assault will take place on December 9 and 10: an 83-year-old man is accused of sexual assault and rape incestuous committed in a commune in the South Channel on a minor since 2008, the young person being aged 12, until 2018, the young person having then reached adulthood. The accused faces 20 years of criminal imprisonment.
