Cercy-la-Tour. Pierre Cyprès, gold medalist in judo. At the judo tournament in Saint-Marcel (Saône-et-Loire), recently, Cercycois Pierre Cyprès, 11 years old, won his first medal, also gold, in the category of juniors under 34 kg. He knocked out his main opponents coming from Dijon, Besançon, Chalon-sur-Saône or even further afield.
A few weeks earlier, he had brought back two promising fifth places at the Sens and Varennes-Vauzelles tournaments.
“It’s very encouraging for a small club to be able to compete with large structures,” confides its teacher at USC judo, Michaël Denizot, who also works at Decize and Fourchambault. Pierre Cyprès was able to put into practice what he was taught, every Monday evening, at the municipal dojo where he meets his other comrades.
Next challenge: the departmental championship in Cosne-sur-Loire, Saturday January 18.
