Alexandre Godbout, one of the teachers in the UQAM francization program, received the Solange-Chalvin prize from the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI). This award highlights the efforts of adults who have learned or are learning French in Quebec as well as the exceptional contribution of the teaching staff, partners and volunteers who accompany them or have accompanied them throughout their learning of our common language.
Winner in the MIFI Teaching Staff category, Alexandre Godbout has been teaching French to adults for 22 years. He began his journey in 2002 in Carrefours d’Intégration before working in various establishments, CEGEPs and universities. An employee of MIFI, he is currently part of the UQAM-MIFI team, which offers courses for people living in Quebec who wish to learn the French language or improve their skills.
Polyglot, Alexandre Godbout understands the linguistic challenges of his students very well and adapts his teaching methods accordingly. Very creative, he develops innovative educational tools and carries out unique projects according to the interests of his students. It also stands out for its use of technology in its teaching. Its courses have a tangible impact on the social and professional lives of its students because the emphasis is placed on strengthening their linguistic confidence and facilitating their integration.
Last year, UQAM won the Solange-Chalvin prize in the category of MIFI partner organizations in learning French – Educational establishment. This award highlighted the projects implemented by the University to enable immigrants to improve their language skills and integrate into the cultural and social life of Montreal and Quebec.
