He certainly did not expect such reactions: after having, on the set of the show C the weekly (France 5) of Saturday November 23, 2024, commenting on the aftermath of the “Lola affair”, the journalist Christophe Hondelatte suffered an outpouring of hatred such that it led him to “temporarily (step) aside”, reports Public.
While the host of the show mentioned the fact that the alleged murderer of little Lola (murdered at the end of 2022), under OQTF, was criminally responsible for the crime, Christophe Hondelatte rebounded by affirming that the tragedy proved that it was necessary to treat undocumented immigrants in France.
“This is clear proof that state medical aid is essential. These people, even if they are undocumented, also need to be treated, including psychiatric care,” he declared. This, in the presence of Lola’s mother, also present on set.
His position quickly angered many Internet users, who commented extensively on social networks. It was therefore on X (formerly Twitter) that the 61-year-old journalist “explained himself”, reproaching his detractors for their “miserable recovery”.
