Francky D. was found guilty of the death of Antoine Alléno, in Paris, on May 8, 2022, by the Paris criminal court, this Thursday. The 27-year-old man was sentenced to 7 years in prison for manslaughter, with a deferred committal warrant. This conviction means that he will be imprisoned even in the event of an appeal. Francky D.'s driving license was canceled and he was banned from using it for 5 years.
On the evening of the tragedy, around 11 p.m., Francky D., from the traveling community, was at the wheel of a powerful Audi RS6 that he had just stolen, when he fatally hit young Antoine Alléno, son of the chef Yannick Alléno, who was on a scooter with a passenger, Anisa, on the Place de la Résistance (7th arrondissement), near the Pont de l'Alma. The victims were stopped at a red light. The 28-year-old woman was seriously injured.
Already convicted six times in the past
After the violent collision, the driver tried to flee but was arrested by an off-duty police commissioner. Two hours after the tragedy, he had 1.56 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, a level well above the legal limit. Francky D. was already known to the courts. Living in Bezons (Val-d'Oise), he had already been convicted six times and was known to the police for acts of theft by an organized gang, vehicle theft or even for violence or fraud. “I have done the irreparable”regretted the driver at the bar, ensuring that without alcohol, “that would never have happened” product.
Francky D. was on trial alongside two other defendants, René A., 47 years old, and Sniper G., 20 years old, prosecuted for gang theft. The prosecution had respectively requested six months of imprisonment and nine months of suspended sentence against them. They were finally released.
Since the tragedy, the victim's family has created the Antoine Alléno association to help those who have lost a loved one in a road tragedy. Yannick Alléno is campaigning for the creation of an offense of “road homicide”. A new bill was tabled in July, and LR deputy Éric Pauget was appointed committee rapporteur on October 22.
