After his match against Monaco, Angel Di Maria close to the record for assists in the Champions League

By providing two assists late in the match, Angel Di Maria helped Benfica beat Monaco on Wednesday evening. Already winner of the competition, Di Maria could soon enter a little more in the history of the competition. His two assists this evening brought his tally to 38 in C1. According to Opta, he is now fourth in the ranking of best passers behind Ryan Giggs (41), Cristiano Ronaldo (40) and Lionel Messi (39). Di Maria is the only one currently playing in Europe and therefore has a chance of breaking the record. Benfica will face Bologna and Barca in their next matches before traveling to Turin to play Juventus.
