The six trucks from the Gard food bank were destroyed in a fire during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The fire broke out shortly after midnight in the closed parking lot of the association's site located on the Nîmes market station. The damage is estimated at 480,000 euros. An investigation is underway to determine whether this fire was of criminal origin. In a press release published this Thursday, the Food Bank indicates that its fleet of refrigerated vehicles “was completely destroyed by a fire believed to be malicious” and that the six vehicles concerned are “completely charred”.
The Food Bank specifies that the value of this park is approximately 480,000 euros and that she is looking for “a solution for our logistics in order to continue collection and thus serve our 91 partner associations”. This is not the first time these vehicles have been damaged, “Two years ago, our six vehicles were visited, the driver and passenger side windows were broken and the vehicles were searched” laments the association.
