Wednesday November 27, 2024, firefighters were alerted at 3:30 p.m. for a fire on the first floor of a building located rue Théodore-Chennevière in Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). An important system was put in place: 48 fire fighters were mobilized to put out the fire using three fire hoses. As a precaution, the 150 people and 12 employees who were at the Les Enfants Terribles café-theater, near the fire, were evacuated around 5 p.m.

Uninhabitable building
As a result of the disaster, 16 people including 9 children were rehoused by the social action center and the employees of the beauty institute located on the ground floor of the building were unemployed for an indefinite period, informs the Departmental Service fire and rescue department (Sdis) of Seine-Maritime. The municipality of Elbeuf, for its part, should quickly issue a danger order on “the building rendered uninhabitable”. Despite the extent of the damage, no casualties were reported.
In the evening, firefighters continued clearing and clearing operations.
