Nearly eight months after the discovery of Émile's bones, the investigation to shed light on the circumstances of his death continues, as confirmed by Hubert Bonneau, the director general of the French National Gendarmerie.

On March 30, 2024, a hiker ended nearly a year of searching to find little Émile, who had escaped the surveillance of his maternal grandparents on July 8, 2023. Analysis of the bones then confirmed that they were indeed those of the boy, and had made it possible to identify unknown human DNA. These samples unfortunately did not lift the veil on the circumstances of the tragedy. This Thursday, November 28 on RTL, Hubert Bonneau, director general of the French National Gendarmerie, assured that investigations to understand how the events unfolded were continuing.

“There are 20 investigators permanently mobilized”he notably revealed at the microphone of Amandine Bégot. “This is an issue that is obviously very complex. There are a lot of assessments currently being carried out by experts from the IRCGN (the Criminal Research Institute of the Gendarmerie), who compare the results and study them.also developed the former commander of the GIGN, before emphasizing the total involvement of the gendarmes, “who continue to work hard on this issue”.

All the hypotheses still studied to understand the death of Émile

According to Hubert Bonneau, all plausible avenues, including the accident theory, remain studied at this stage. “We are not ruling out anything in this matter. We are dealing with a news item, but behind it, there are families. So the work of the gendarmes is like the case of young Lina”he declared, referring to the other big case of last year, also partially resolved on October 16 with the discovery of his body near . “Our job is also to discover the truth so that families can mourn. It is a duty we have towards families. That’s the most important thing”insisted the soon-to-be 58-year-old soldier.
