Senators and deputies agreed on a compromise concerning the 2025 Social Security budget. The text resulting from this commission notably provides for a reduction in employer contribution reductions, to the tune of 1.6 billion euros, a measure fought to the end by the Macronist camp.
A “very unfair” measure
Senators adopted an amendment on Tuesday to create a second annual day of unpaid workin addition to the “solidarity day” to generate 2.5 billion euros in revenue. The objective being to finance the autonomy branch of Social Security. In exchange, companies would have been entitled to double their solidarity contribution for autonomy, going from 0.3% to 0.6%.
“I think that it allowed us to restate the labor debate in France, which is a real subject, and I think that if we also want to get out of our overall deficit, we perhaps need to review work. Perhaps probably be working more and better, in better conditions”, estimated Yannick Neuder, Republican Right deputy for Isère.
“In any case, this measure, which was seen as very unfair by some, will not apply. In terms of social justice, the real desire was not to ask any more effort from those who already work a lot,” judged the 'elected.
“The idea is rather to see what measures we can put on people who benefit a little too much from the system and who benefit a little too much from social minimums,” declared Yannick Neuder, at the end of this commission which lasted seven o'clock.
