Since last Tuesday, La Smala, an emblematic restaurant in the Alphasis zone in Saint-Grégoire, has reopened its doors. It welcomes its customers again, despite a terrible disaster that occurred on November 25, 2024. That day, shortly after 1 p.m., a fire broke out in the kitchens.
Immediately alerted, the eighteen firefighters mobilized on site evacuated around a hundred people, including consumers and employees, to ensure their safety. They had taken care of a 46-year-old man, seriously burned to the face and chest. Fortunately, the victim, taken to the University Hospital, is now out of danger and is receiving treatment in the burns department.
Since then, the investigation has concluded that it was an accident. Thanks to the intervention of firefighters, the disaster was brought under control, limiting the damage to what was strictly necessary to allow rapid rehabilitation of the site. Known for its family atmosphere, La Smala stands out for its welcoming layout and red and black decoration. The menu, varied and accessible, caters for all appetites: original pizzas (like the famous “Rennes”), roast meats, burgers, traditional dishes and 100% French Charolais beef tartares. With its reopening, La Smala hopes to rediscover the excitement that made it a popular address in Saint-Grégoire.
