The Yamaha XSR900, the flagship model of the brand’s “Sport Heritage” range, arrives in 2025 with a series of subtle but significant improvements. These technological and ergonomic updates bring this modern classic even closer to the state of the art in terms of comfort, control and connectivity.
Technological Innovations
The immediate highlight is the new five-inch color TFT screen, replacing the previous smaller display. This screen, shared with the 2024 MT-09, offers four customizable layouts and smartphone integration via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. Additionally, full navigation with step-by-step instructions is available through the Garmin StreetCross app.
The model also incorporates Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) riding modes, which allow adjustment of engine characteristics and electronic intervention levels, adapting to different conditions or rider preferences. Three pre-programmed modes – Sport, Road and Rain – are available, but it is possible to create two custom programs for even more specific configurations.
Among the new electronic systems, the Rear Slip Regulator stands out, working in conjunction with the anti-slip clutch to minimize rear wheel locks by reducing reverse torque. The 2025 XSR900 also includes a speed limit function, improving safety and control.
Suspension and Ergonomics Improvements
The new fully adjustable KYB rear suspension, with adjustment for preload, high and low speed compression, and rebound, features a revised linkage design that promises a better traction feel at the rear.
The ergonomics have also been refined, with a redesigned seat for greater comfort for both the pilot and the passenger. Additionally, there is a new handlebar shape, rubber-mounted footpegs to reduce vibration, a 14-position adjustable clutch lever, and a revised gearshift lever. For added convenience, a USB-C port has been added to the dashboard.
Style and color options
The XSR900 maintains its retro aesthetic but now offers two color options: Raven, a modern black, and Heritage White, which evokes Yamaha’s sporting tradition.

Scheduled to arrive in dealerships starting in April 2025, the Yamaha XSR900 will be priced starting at $10,599 (US suggested retail price).
