“Who are you, Mr. Bertin?” It is this question from the president that the Isère Assize Court sought to answer during the first three days of the trial of Ludovic Bertin for the murder preceded by an attempted rape of Victorine Dartois in September 2020 and the rape of another young woman, Vicky, two years earlier.

The accused, now aged 29, comes from a large blended family. When Yves Rivoire and Yolaine Bertin meet, the first being the lessor of the apartment rented by the second, they already have children on their own: a “big son” for him, three boys and two girls from three different fathers for her.
