Following the football derby last October, the Lille club, LOSC, was forced to pay compensation of 60,000 euros to RC Lens. The match, which took place at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, was won by Lille with a score of 0-2.
However, this meeting was marked by unfortunate incidents. Lille supporters, present in large numbers in Lens, caused damage in the area reserved for them. Several seats were broken and toilets were vandalized.
According to the newspaper La Voix du Nord, this damage resulted in an obligation of compensation on the part of LOSC towards RC Lens. The amount of the bill for these repairs would be close to 60,000 euros.
The payment of this sum by Lille would be subject to one condition: that RC Lens deduct the 8,000 euros in associated management costs. This situation is not new for the Lille club.
Indeed, during a previous derby on September 18, 2021, Lille also had to compensate Lens for similar damage. This match was marked by excesses and incidents that occurred during half-time.
These events recall the tensions that frequently exist between the two rival clubs in the northern region. The derbies between Lille and Lens are often intense, but these excesses add an unfortunate dimension to this rivalry.
