The Supreme Court has granted partial immunity to the former president of the United States and candidate in the election at the end of the year.

A year ago, Donald Trump seemed mired in a perilous legal bind, facing criminal charges in four separate cases. But following the Supreme Court’s decision this week, he is unlikely to appear in court before the November election. He may never appear in court at all, because if he is reelected, he is likely to “self-pardon” or ask his attorney general to drop the charges.

The former president can thank his team of lawyers who skillfully managed, through various motions and requests, to slow down the procedure and push back the trials indefinitely. He also benefited from astonishing luck and of course the rulings of the Supreme Court justices, three of whom were appointed by him.
