A violent homicide between minors. On Sunday, the Guardia Civil arrested a 17-year-old young man in Orihuela, south of Alicante, Spain. Teenager is suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend, a 15-year-old girl, with a knife, reports The Country.

The events occurred in the evening, around 8:30 p.m. It was the victim's brother who called for help when he discovered his sister injured. The latter, stabbed several times in the neck, was treated and rushed to hospital, before succumbing to her injuries.

42nd feminicide of the year?

An investigation was immediately opened and the suspect was arrested after 11 p.m. According to initial information, the teenager and the victim had been in a relationship but the young girl had broken up a few days earlier. Investigators are currently moving towards the theory of femicide. The young man had a clean criminal record until now.

The police had only 24 hours to gather all possible clues, as the law prohibits prolonged custody of a minor.

In Spain, 41 women were killed by their spouse or ex-partner in 2024, according to official figures. If femicide is proven, this teenager would be the 42nd victim of this violence.
