Skipper Benjamin Dutreux is not losing his bearings. In the middle of the Vendée Globe and in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, he will be a fervent supporter of Stade Brestois this Tuesday in the Champions League match against FC Barcelona. The sailor from Sables-d’Olonne shares a common sponsor with the Breton club, Guyot Environnement, but he affirms that this is not the only reason that will push him to watch Éric Roy’s team attempt the feat against the Barcelona ogre.
“For me, it’s completely natural to follow them because they’re a bit like Little Thumb who is doing quite well in the Champions League. It’s nice to be able to support them”Dutreux tells RMC. “Even though we are from Vendée, we are completely behind Brest. I will support them to the fullest, I will try to put on the match if the conditions allow it”he continues.
In the event of a victory on Barça’s pitch, Brest, still undefeated, would ensure its qualification for the next round of the Champions League. Benjamin Dutreux believes in it: “I’m aiming more for a match with a little suspense, I’m banking on a 2-1.”
