Only a few days left to enjoy the sun: what can we expect for the weekend weather?

While the weekend was marked by strong storms that caused the death of 3 people in Aube, the summer period is struggling to get off to a good start. The first week of July is looking rather cool and humid for the season, with storms forecast for this Saturday, July 6. An exception to the general monotony, the Mediterranean regions are truly entering summer, without experiencing a heatwave.

For this first week of July, France finds itself at the crossroads of the Azores high and depressions coming from northern Europe. Result? Rather low temperatures for the season, with less than 20°C in Brittany, Normandy and the North at the beginning of the week, as announced by BFM Météo.

Showers are also forecast from Wednesday across the entire northern half of the country. Only the Mediterranean coast will experience real summer weather thanks to a mistral and a tramontane that will clear the sky. The mercury will climb to 29°C in Montpellier on Friday July 5.

Thunderstorms expected this Saturday, July 6

Saturday, the weather could get worse according to La Chaîne météo, with rain expected across the country. Heavy storms are also forecast. The regions most affected are Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, but the disturbances will move up to the centre and east of France as the day goes on.

Several departments under surveillance

As a reminder, following the violent storms of Saturday June 29, the departments of Meuse, Marne, Aube and Vosges are still classified as yellow alert. “thunderstorms” by Météo France. The Haute-Marne department is classified as orange alert “raw”.
