AMD's Radeon RX 7800 XT landed in France in September 2023. At the time AMD had set its recommended retail price at €555. Since then its pricing has evolved but without recording a notable drop.
This graphics card was launched to fill the gap that existed between the Radeon RX 7900 XT aimed at the high end and the Radeon RX 7600 aimed at the entry level. AMD also responded to the release of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070. Our tests highlighted a card designed for 1440p without concession in Rasterization.
Radeon RX 7800 XT, performance, mechanics and price
We have a mechanism capable of ensuring 60 fps and more with Full Option. In almost all the games on our list, the 90 fps mark is exceeded. However, the matter becomes complicated if Ray Tracing is activated. Announced at the recommended price of $499, this Radeon RX 7800 XT MBA offers a better price/performance ratio in Rasterization than the GeForce RTX 4070. The results in Ray Tracing are more mixed but remain positive when considering the price variable. Nvidia offers a gain of between approximately 9 and 12% in this area for a price increase of 20%. On the other hand, we have a significant difference in consumption between the two cards (170 Watts) to the disadvantage of AMD.
Since its release, its price has varied depending on the models and promotions. Currently, it is available from around €490, but certain offers, particularly during Black Friday, allow you to find it at even more competitive prices. Note that the highest prices for premium or overclocked variants can exceed the €750 mark.
