Lupita Nyong’o is determined to keep her life private and away from the spotlight.
The 41-year-old actress has been linked to actor Joshua Jackson in recent months but she refuses to say more.
The star – who split from TV commentator Selema Masekela in 2023 – told PEOPLE: “There’s so much in my life that’s public, that making my personal life part of the public conversation is a liability. What I’ve learned is that when things go wrong, it takes longer to recover because everyone knows. I want to keep those things to myself.”
Lupita has been much more open about her love life in the past but has learned to stay quiet over the years.
“There’s a lack of control,” she added. “I don’t have control over things… I’ll say this: The wonderful thing about social media is that I have a say in what people know about me. But there are aspects of my life that I have no control over. And that’s disconcerting. It’s sad sometimes, I would say disappointing and frustrating. But there’s nothing I can do about it. What I can do is protect what I share as much as possible, and leave the rest to God.”
