“These games may become unresponsive upon startup, loading, or during an active game. In some cases, users may experience a black screen,” Microsoft explained on its support blog.

The company clarified that a temporary fix had been deployed by Ubisoft to Star Wars Outlaws to prevent the game from becoming unresponsive, adding that players may still experience performance issues.

While it resolves the problem, Microsoft explains that it has applied a “compatibility suspension” on the computers on which the affected games are installed. That is, these devices will not be offered to install the update. The company also recommends that users do not try to install it manually until the issue has been resolved.

This comes after another Windows update was also problematic. Optional, it was installed automatically on certain computers, subsequently causing a blue or green screen of death.
