A sordid story. For 4 days, a 36-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman will be tried by the Ille-et-Vilaine Assize Court, indicates Ouest-France. They are suspected of having killed a 63-year-old retiree. The latter was found dying in his apartment on fire, on the night of Thursday September 17 to Friday September 18, 2020, in Rennes.

That evening, the firefighters intervened in the apartment and discovered the body of the victim. The man was in cardio-respiratory arrest and his face was swollen. Suspicion quickly fell on a couple of outcasts. Our colleagues assure that the three people met in a supermarket a little earlier in the day and that they had dinner together afterwards.

They tried to flee

The evening obviously went very badly and the couple tried to rob the victim. That night, video surveillance images show the 42-year-old woman withdrawing money from an ATM with the pensioner’s credit card, our colleagues say.

Earlier in the evening an argument had broken out. The autopsy carried out revealed injuries to the victim’s face and neck, a dented rib cage and burn marks on his legs. The couple are also suspected of having “stapled the ears” of their host.
