After the cry of alarm from certain parents of students at the Pradelet school, the mayor of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Alain Sutra, wanted to clarify the situation concerning the long crack present in the town’s school establishment.

A few days ago, some parents of students spoke out and deplored the long crack present in one of the buildings of the Pradelet school in Tarascon-sur-Ariège. They showed their concern in the face of a worsening situation and in the face of a report that alarms them. He speaks of a “general tilting of the extended part of the playground”, explains one of the parents of the students.

A situation that they deplore and for which they did not hesitate to move forward: “We have the impression that school is not a priority for the town hall”. A sentence that made the mayor of the town Alain Sutra, former director of this school, jump: “I cannot let it be said that the school does not interest him. We have carried out numerous actions for schoolchildren such as free tuition. the school canteen for 90% of the children. The parents also have no additional supplies to buy, it is the town hall which takes care of them.

The crack can also be seen in the toilets that have been closed since it appeared.

In addition to these examples, the councilor recognizes that there is a “problem with this crack”. However, he wants to be reassuring: “We immediately took measures for the safety of the students.” So large barriers were installed around the cracked wall. Two classrooms and toilets were closed.

“We will take all measures to resolve this.”

In this school of 130 students, some parents are not reassured and the mayor understands this concern. “I would not put my children in this school if I had not been guaranteed their safety,” says Bastien Pitarresi, father of students at the Pradelet school and deputy mayor. “I would not leave the children in the school or in the courtyard if they were in danger,” adds Alain Sutra.

Now, the Tarascon elected official hopes to be able to take advantage of the upcoming school holidays to do the work and start again on a healthy basis in September. “We are waiting for the written result of a second report but from what the experts told me, it is not that serious. In any case, we will take all measures to resolve it as quickly as possible.”

The parents of the students, angry, also supported another problem linked to this crack, the closing of one of the two remaining toilets. “It ultimately has nothing to do with each other. The two are not related and it has since been fixed.” Regarding the hole in the school yard, the mayor announces that he will take advantage of the summer to fill it in, but not with tar like almost the entire outdoor area. “We are going to create a garden to bring a little greenery to the children,” declares the councilor, confident that tensions between the town hall and certain parents of students will ease during the summer holidays.
