Formula 1 returns to Las Vegas, for a second Grand Prix contested on the streets of the Nevada city. The circuit notably includes the famous “Strip”, the main artery of Las Vegas, where a good number of hotels, restaurants and the essential casinos are concentrated, in which people continue to play even with Formula 1s increasing to more than 320 km/h!
George Russell took pole position, driving a Mercedes in particularly good shape in the “Sin City”. Carlos Sainz completes the first row ahead of a surprising Pierre Gasly, third at the wheel of his Alpine. He shares the second row with Charles Leclerc. The two championship leaders, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, are in fifth and sixth row. The Dutchman can win the world crown this Sunday morning.
Yuki Tsunoda, Oscar Piastri, Nico Hülkenberg and Lewis Hamilton complete the top 10. The Briton was unable to rise to the same level as his teammate, due to two errors during his two fast laps in Q3. Esteban Ocon, eleventh, adds to Alpine's great collective effort, and he will start with Kevin Magnussen at his side. Guanyu Zhou performed well with thirteenth place, ahead of Franco Colapinto. Accidented in Q2, the Argentinian must however pass a medical examination which will determine whether or not he can start the Grand Prix. Liam Lawson and Sergio Pérez will start from the eighth row, ahead of Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon and Lance Stroll. Penalized by five places on the grid, Valtteri Bottas brings up the rear.
Departure of the Las Vegas Grand Prix at 7 a.m. French time this Sunday, it will then be 10 p.m. and it will still be Saturday in the United States!
