Israel-Hezbollah war: Beirut bombed for the fourth time in a week

An Israeli bombardment on the center of Beirut killed at least 11 people and left a considerable number injured during the night from Friday to Saturday, we learned from the Lebanese civil defense.

The official Lebanese news agency said an eight-story building was destroyed in the attack and that many casualties were reported. Images broadcast by the Lebanese television channel Al Jadeed showed at least one building destroyed and several others badly damaged.

At least four bombs

According to Reuters journalists, several powerful explosions were heard in the Lebanese capital around 4:00 a.m. (02:00 GMT) and security sources estimate at least four the number of bombs dropped by the Israeli air force during this bombing, the fourth having targeted the Lebanese capital this week.

After almost a year of low-intensity conflict, linked to the support that Hezbollah wanted to show for Hamas after the attack of the Palestinian group in Israel on October 7, 2023, the Hebrew State intensified its military campaign against the Lebanese Shiite movement, supported by Iran, notably killing its historic leader Hassan Nasrallah in a bombing of Beirut at the end of September. According to a report from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, which does not distinguish between combatants and civilians, 3,645 people have been killed and 15,355 others have been injured by Israeli bombings since October 2023.
