It is today Friday November 22 that, as we learned SportsUEFA pays Champions League clubs the balance of the bonuses earned by each since the start of the group stage. This, in particular, complements the first transfer of last month, notably linked to the bonus common to all qualified teams. It is 18.62 million, but the teams only received 17.87 million euros. The remaining 750,000 euros will be paid to them at the end of the competition.
More than 20 million in total paid to Brest, Monaco, LOSC and PSG
This time, it is the account corresponding to the results of the first four matches of the new single-pool formula. That is, 2.1 million euros paid per victory and 0.7 million the equivalent of a draw. Undefeated, AS Monaco and Stade Brestois (3 wins and a draw), will each receive seven million euros from the organizer of the format. With two victories and a draw, LOSC receives 4.9 million euros, while PSG, with a victory and a draw, accumulates 2.8 million euros.
A new prize money of 2.467 billion for the Champions League
As of this season, UEFA has increased the number of clubs participating in the Champions League from 32 to 36. On this occasion it rethought the format of the tournament, based no longer on eight groups of four, but on a single pool and the teams which will compete following the elimination phase, according to their ranking. This new version is accompanied by an increase in prize money. In total, the qualified teams now share a pot of 2.467 billion euros, compared to 2.032 billion last season.
