The Swiss international, who broke the deadlock by opening the score against En Avant Guingamp (4-0), expresses her well-being within a united collective which feels equipped to shake up the big names of 'Arkema Premier League.
The DFCO is tied for third in the Arkema Premier League after 8 days! How are you experiencing this great start to the season?
During the summer preparation, we already realized that the level of the team was higher than in previous seasons. It gives us pleasure. In the first two matches, there was disappointment because we had set higher goals. We enjoy playing together, the team puts on a great game which is rewarded with goals. It's motivating and the results are good. Between the players and with the staff, we managed to change things and develop. On the medical side for example, we have fewer injured players, which is very important for us.
The goal at the start of the season was to finish between 6th and 7th place. Today, should the team raise the bar?
I think you have to stay humble. We had good results, but we will successively play PSG, Montpellier, Paris FC and Lyon. They are great teams. This is where we will really see where we place ourselves. We must continue to play without pressure. We are in a situation that we did not know. This allows us to improve new aspects of our game.
In your opinion, what are the factors that allow this team to perform like this?
I think we have a good mix of French and foreign players. Foreign players are much more integrated and that plays a big role on the pitch. We get along very well in the team and in the locker room. It's cool. With this team, I think I went out more among players than I did all last season. But we also ask a lot of standards from our teammates, that's what makes us successful. Staff members are always looking to improve what we can do.
There are 4 matches coming up against clubs accustomed to the top of the table (PSG, Montpellier, Paris FC and Lyon). A good test to see what the team is capable of?
What is interesting in the Arkema Premier League is that the teams evolve a lot every year. So, you never really know what awaits you. We know very well that we will have to raise our level of play against these teams. I'm delighted to face them.
How to put Paris Saint-Germain in difficulty this weekend? Should you play your game above all, rather than absolutely adapting to your opponent?
We are going to start with a necessarily defensive plan, but afterwards, it is clear that we want to play. Against any team you can play football. The first important thing for us will still be to defend well. We will then find solutions to score goals.
How do you judge your start to the season and what are your personal goals for the future?
I did a very good preparation. I play a lot with the Swiss selection and I had a little gap. Now I feel better. I am happy in Dijon. After three seasons here, I can say that this is my second home. I like to advise young players. I hope to play for several more years, until I no longer enjoy it.
For this season, I remember that the President announced that he wanted to “win the Champions League”… Potentially, the women's section is the closest to at least playing it.
We imagine that the match against France will remain a special memory?
We played against quality players, we tried to implement new things. For example, I was positioned as a right piston. It was super cool to win against France. It's been 22 years since we last won against the France team. There, we will continue against Germany and England, it will be very tough, but we will see where we are. In this type of match, you gain a lot of experience.
