Monaco and Brest open the 12th day of Ligue 1 on Friday (7 p.m.) before returning to the Champions League where the two French clubs begin the second part of the League phase from Tuesday.
If Monaco receives Benfica, an affordable opponent, Brest moves to Barça and will have to further raise its level to continue its almost perfect course in C1. Especially since the Bretons, brilliant on the European scene, are skating in the championship.
Eric Roy's men are left with a scathing defeat at the last Montpellier (3-1) before the international break and, 12th in Ligue 1, are only three points ahead of Saint-Étienne, 16th in play-off position.
Monaco, despite its victory in Strasbourg (3-1) on the 11th day, despite its runner-up position behind PSG, is hardly very dashing. The Monegasques remained, before the match in Alsace, with one draw and two defeats.
The two teams therefore have a first warm-up round before attacking Europe.

The tempestuous Argentinian, Jorge Sampaoli, shows off his new role as coach of Rennes on Sunday in Lille (11:00 a.m.), who are in bad shape in Ligue 1.
The former Argentina coach, who passed through Marseille during the 2021-2022 season, must allow the Bretons, 13th in the championship, with only one point ahead of Saint-Étienne, to reach European qualification.
The task has been difficult for the Argentinian at Rennes' side since the start of the break and Lille, his first opponent, is perhaps not the ideal start for his return to Ligue 1.
Lille, 4th, with an almost perfect run in the Champions League, have not lost in the league since the 4th day in September against Saint-Étienne (1-0).
