ICC: its decision is a “dark day for justice”

Netanyahu's office calls ICC arrest warrants “modern Dreyfus trial”

“Israel categorically rejects the false and absurd accusations of the International Criminal Court, a biased and discriminatory political body. »

The following statement was issued by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office in response to Thursday's issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant by the International Criminal Court:

The International Criminal Court’s anti-Semitic ruling is a modern-day Dreyfus trial – and will end the same way.

Israel categorically rejects the false and absurd accusations of the International Criminal Court, a biased and discriminatory political body.

No war is more just than the one Israel has been waging in Gaza since October 7, 2023, when the terrorist organization Hamas launched a deadly assault and carried out the largest massacre against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

The decision to issue an arrest warrant for the prime minister was made by a corrupt chief prosecutor who is trying to protect himself from accusations of sexual harassment and biased judges motivated by anti-Semitic hatred of Israel.

The ICC prosecutor lied when he told US senators he would not take action until he visited Israel and heard his side.

Instead, he canceled his arrival in Israel last May, several days after suspicions of sexual harassment were leveled against him, and announced his intention to issue arrest warrants against the prime minister and the former Minister of Defense.

No anti-Israeli decision will prevent the State of Israel from defending its citizens.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not give in to pressure. It will continue to pursue all the objectives that Israel has set for itself in its just war against Hamas and the Iranian terrorist axis.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday sharply criticized the International Criminal Court's decision to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes.

He stated: ”It is a dark day for justice, a dark day for humanity. The absurd decision of the ICC, which was taken innocently, has transformed universal justice into a universal joke. It mocked the sacrifice of all those who fought for justice, from the Allied victory against the Nazis until today. The decision chose the side of terrorism and evil over democracy and freedom and made the international legal system the human shield for Hamas' crimes against humanity.

“It ignores the fate of the 101 Israeli hostages held captive by Hamas in Gaza. It ignores Hamas's cynical use of its own people as human shields. It ignores the fundamental fact that Israel was attacked in a barbaric manner and that it has the duty and right to defend its people. It ignores the fact that Israel is a vibrant democracy, which acts in accordance with international humanitarian law and does everything possible to meet the humanitarian needs of the civilian population., continued the president.

“This cynical exploitation of international legal institutions reminds us once again of the need for true moral clarity in the face of an evil Iranian empire that seeks to destabilize our region and the world, and destroy the very institutions of the free world. »
