The actor William Pinville, known to television viewers for having been the voice-over of Questions for a champion for almost 25 years on 3, died.

It is a voice very well known to viewers whose death we learned this Thursday, November 21, 2024. In fact, our colleagues from BFM have had confirmation from the TV Conseil agency that comedian William Pinville has died. If the latter's face was not particularly famous it is because he acted in the shadow of Julien Lepers, as a voice-over for the show Questions for a champion. He held this role for almost 25 years – between 1992 and 2016 -, having been fired from the emblematic France 3 game at the same time as the historic host.

As voiceover of Questions for a champion, William Pinville had a habit of promptly interacting with Julien Lepers. He was notably in charge of presenting the candidates who tried their luck in the France 3 afternoon game, of giving the amount of the prize pools and of listing the gifts that the participants had won thanks to their knowledge of general culture. The Figarowho devoted an article to the program several years ago, specifies that William Pinville himself wrote the texts introducing the candidates, which he then delivered on the air.

William Pinville, who is also a dubbing actor and has lent his voice to advertisements and even audio books, still appeared on screen in Questions for a championfor a very special occasion. On April 1, 2015, he actually welcomed the viewers, before Julien Lepers joined him on set to explain that he was handing over his position to him during this number: “CWhat are we going to do this evening, you're the one who's going to present the show in my place, I'm going there“, he said, pointing to the public stands, before adding: “I am a spectator and you are a presenter! Good luck William!“, he concluded.
