ChatGPT has many uses, but one of its main functions is its ability to generate text. Generally, large language models like those used by ChatGPT are very useful for summarizing documents, or serving as inspiration for writing something. And the good news is that OpenAI recently updated one of the AI models used by ChatGPT to improve its writing capabilities.
“GPT-4o has received an update”, announces the company, in a publication on the social network X. OpenAI mentions an improvement in the creative writing capabilities of the artificial intelligence model. GPT-4o would produce texts that are more natural, more engaging and “more tailored to improve relevance and readability.”
A free novelty
And the good news is that you don't even need to pay for a ChatGPT Plus subscription to take advantage of this update. Indeed, OpenAI offers its GPT-4o model to users of the free version of ChatGPT, but with a higher daily usage limit. So, to test out these new ChatGPT writing capabilities, all you have to do is go to the ChatGPT website or app, and make sure that the GPT-4o model is used.
Other improvements
Otherwise, if you use ChatGPT to analyze documents, the recent GPT-4o update should also be useful to you. “It also performs better in processing uploaded files, providing deeper insights and more complete answers”we read in the OpenAI announcement.
As a reminder, GPT-4o was presented in May. Its main difference, compared to GPT-4, is that it is naturally capable of understanding texts, as well as images and audio files. Therefore, to process a voice command, it does not need to go through an intermediate model that converts audio into text. GPT-4o is also able to understand the nuances of spoken language. And it is this model that powers ChatGPT's advanced voice mode, which allows you to chat in a natural way with the AI, as if you were chatting with a human.
- OpenAI announces an update to GPT-4o, which is offered for free on ChatGPT
