The Daltons
“They're two old boys who are nice as can be. All the people from Chavelot know them and I can't imagine anyone who could say bad things about them,” testifies a lady who claims to have known them for more than 30 years.
The two septuagenarians, who lost their parents when they were out of adolescence, live in the family home and have never left each other's side. A duo who are part of the local landscape and who are nicknamed, for some unknown reason, “the Daltons”. Several neighbors describe mutual assistance put in place with the two brothers. In exchange for vegetables, several of them helped them with their administrative tasks.

Gullible?
But capable of committing murder? “I am shocked, especially since these are people who easily opened their doors. Besides, they were easily fooled. » There too, there are several neighbors who make the same observation. “Noel, he was often gullible. We sold him anything,” testifies another neighbor. Telephone plan, heat pump, house maintenance work… everything could find favor in his eyes. However, this former plasterer and painter did not seem to be rolling in gold. Was it this umpteenth canvassing that made him lose his temper?
A neighbor and a former neighbor also witnessed violence between the two brothers. Screams were heard, but some also claim that the younger brother regularly beat his older brother. “Noel, I know he's a little impulsive, but he's never hurt anyone. […] He was always afraid that someone would hurt him. I didn’t think it would come to this one day,” continues the neighbor. Another observes that “at that moment, he was nervous, irascible”.
For now, the man remains a suspect in this murder case and remains presumed innocent.
