This Wednesday evening, the academicians pulled out all the stops in the room with 100 seats to reward the award-winning authors whose names had been revealed in mid-October. The Grand Prize was awarded to actress Sophie Marceau, for “La Souterraine”.

Sorry not to be present, she left a video message in which she said she was very honored. “It ends a fairy tale. This is the best encouragement you can give me. I am extremely grateful to you,” declared Sophie Marceau.
But she wasn't the only writer in the spotlight. Claire Castillon was awarded the prize for the best short story, “L’Orée du parc”, to be found in her collection “L’œil”. The special jury prize, for his writing, went to Etienne Verhasselt for his collection “After Eternity”.

The quality of their work was warmly praised by Patrick Voisin, the director of the prize, and the members of the jury, including the president of the Academy, Marc Bélit. “We are following in the footsteps of Marguerite de Navarre who, in her time, helped artists and poets,” explained the president.
And Patrick Voisin confirmed that these awards will be permanent, with the ambition “that they rank alongside the most prestigious”.
