Landes coastline: Friday classified as risky due to very strong sea currents

The Landes prefecture alert for this Friday, June 28, which will constitute a particularly risky day concerning rip currents on the coast. During this day, “these currents will be strong and could send you out to sea,” the authorities explain.

Tips for safe swimming:

• Bathe in supervised areas
• Supervise your children at all times, always stay with them when they are playing near the water or when they are in the water.
• Take your physical condition into account: do not swim if you feel a physical disorder (fatigue, health problems, chills) and do not overestimate your swimming level.
• An attentive swimmer is a safe swimmer: warn a loved one before swimming, follow the safety instructions indicated by the swimming flags, do not expose yourself to the sun for a long time and enter the water gradually, do not drink alcohol before swimming, etc.
• In case of emergency, call 112 (free from a landline or mobile).
