A fire broke out in the commercial building housing the company Léo Lavoie et fils Ltée in the Sully district of Pohénégamook on November 19 shortly before 6:30 p.m. Firefighters from the city’s Fire Safety Department are currently fighting the fire.
When the Pohénégamook SSI arrived, flames were escaping from the roof of the building’s facade. The fire quickly spread towards the rear of the building. Firefighters climbed onto the roof to better reach the fire.
Around 7:15 p.m., the Town of Pohénégamook shared on social media that Route 289 was closed between the BMR and rue de la Providence due to the fire and asked citizens to limit their travel in the area.
The Rivière-Bleue barracks were called for reinforcements. One of its trucks was used to illuminate the scene using its emergency lighting tower. Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac was also called for assistance. His ladder truck was deployed to the scene around 8 p.m.
