Two suspects were arrested Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi, whose decomposed body was found in late October in a Montreal park.

Darius Perry, 27, from Châteauguay and Nackeal Hickey, 26, from Montreal, were to appear Tuesday afternoon at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on charges of complicity in the murder and kidnapping of three other people. .

A first suspect had already been identified in this vast investigation at the end of August. Joanie Lepage, 32, is currently facing charges of premeditated murder, accessory after the fact and false imprisonment.

To date, the motive for the murder of Kevin Mirshahi has not been revealed by police authorities. It is possible that he was killed in retaliation for cheating some cryptocurrency investors.

Quadruple kidnapping

Kevin Mirshahi, 25, was returning from a night out at the bars at the end of June with one of his friends and two young women when the group was kidnapped by hooded suspects in the interior parking lot of the condo tower where he lived. The day after the crime, three of the four victims were found safe and sound in the west of the metropolis, after having been abandoned on the side of the street by the kidnappers. Only Kevin Mirshahi was still missing.

A vehicle believed to have been used by the kidnappers was found burned in a wealthy neighborhood of Laval, a few hours after the events.

The investigation made it possible to identify a residence in Les Cèdres, in Montérégie, as being the place where the four victims were kidnapped. This is also where the murder of the young cryptocurrency influencer was allegedly committed.

The owner of the premises, Joanie Lepage, was arrested and is still detained awaiting trial.

The body of Kevin Mirshahi was found by chance on October 30 by blue-collar workers from the City of Montreal responsible for maintenance at the Île-de-la-Visitation nature park, in the Ahuntsic district.

According to our information, Mirshahi’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition and his hands were tied behind his back.

Kevin Mirshahi had no criminal history, but he was in the crosshairs of the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) regarding alleged cryptocurrency fraud.
