Every year, it is eagerly awaited by the most vulnerable households. In 2024, the Christmas bonus will be paid on December 15, announced the Minister of Solidarity, Paul Christophe, West France. Beneficiaries will see the transfer “appear in their bank account between December 14 and 16”added the minister.
As a reminder, the Christmas bonus is paid automatically – in one go – per household by the Family Allowance Fund (Caf) or by the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) for households affiliated to this scheme. Concretely, these are the households receiving the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) – granted to unemployed people at the end of their rights – or the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) – aid which does not has been no longer allocated since 2011 – who will benefit from it.
Important clarification: if households receive the social minimums mentioned above in this month of November, the bonus will be distributed to them in December. On the other hand, in the case of rights implemented in December – RSA and ASS, exclusively -, the bonus will only be paid to them during the month of January 2025.

Amounts unchanged this year
Despite the chaotic budgetary situation, the Minister of Solidarity informed West France that the amounts of the Christmas bonus – which differ depending on the number of children and family situation – will remain unchanged in December compared to the previous year.
In short, a single person with a child RSA will receive, as in 2023, 308.72 euros while for a couple with three children the premium rises to 381.13 euros.

Be careful, however, beneficiaries of the Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS) or the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) do not receive the same amount. For the latter, the lump sum amount is fixed and amounts to 152.45 euros in 2024. And the bonus is paid directly by France Travail, without any administrative steps to complete.
On the other hand, single people – and recipients of ASS or AER – with one or more dependent children can receive an increased Christmas bonus. But, in this case, you must make a request to France Travail. “The increased premium is not paid automatically”recalls Dila.

Last point, the Christmas bonus is not taxable and does not have to be declared to the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP).
