Natural gas resources, which include national production and the tax package) fell by 18% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,649 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent (ktoe), at the end of September 2024.
According to the report on the energy situation for the month of September 2024, published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines, the production of dry commercial gas decreased by 25%, the royalty on the passage of Algerian gas fell by 8% at the end of September 2024 at 711 ktoe.
This drop in production is mainly explained by the declines recorded within the Hasdrubal field (-12%), the Nawara field (-39%) and the Miskar field (-19%) while commercial gas from the south, saw its production increase by 12%.
The tax package on the transit of Algerian gas fell by 8% while purchases of Algerian gas recorded a drop of 2% between the end of September 2023 and the end of September 2024, to stand at 1,810 ktoe. The national supply of natural gas recorded a drop of 3% to stand at 3,526 ktoe.
