A real shock for this performing arts teacher and this IT manager, who were in their thirties at the time of the events. On cloud nine, the couple spent their winnings lavishly.
“At the time, there wasn’t really any common sense. I don't even remember talking to Roger about money management. I just remember there was a lot of panic and nonsense.”confides Lara to the tabloid.

“We lost our possessions”
Unfortunately, the daydream turned into a nightmare when a fire broke out in their house in December 2010.
«The whole place burned down while I was at work, but Roger, the two kids and the dogs were inside. It was a nightmare – we also lost all our belongings. We didn't even have clothes to wear. Our house burned for three days», recalls Lara to the media.
This tragedy had disastrous consequences: without a fixed address, the family lived for eight months with Lara's mother while waiting for the house to be renovated.
