07:19: According to the authorities, around a hundred actions are expected today, Tuesday. Farmers continue their mobilization this Tuesday throughout France at the call of rival unions, now with the Rural Coordination which intends to undermine the hegemony of the FNSEA.
The second agricultural union, the Rural Coordination (CR), is holding its annual congress until Wednesday in Vienne. The union assures that it is ready, if it does not obtain satisfaction, to “block food freight” from November 20, first in the south-west of France.
06h01: The Rural Coordination, an agricultural union known to be more virulent than the FNSEA, joins the demand movement this Tuesday. Wine growers, breeders and cereal growers come together to appeal for help and denounce a situation that they describe as critical for their farms. The convoy is on its way to Pessac in Gironde to demonstrate its opposition to Mercosur, but also to protest against Mayor Franck Raynal who declared a few weeks ago that he would no longer serve foie gras during receptions at the town hall.
05:38: Emmanuel Macron affirmed, Monday, at the G20 in Rio de Janeiro that France was “not isolated” in its opposition “as it stands” to the trade agreement between the European Union and Latin American countries of Mercosur, believing that several countries are “joining” it.
“This text (…) because it has been initiated for several decades, is based on prerequisites which are obsolete,” said the French president in front of journalists. He put forward the idea of ”rethinking the relationship with this sub-region, either Mercosur, or perhaps Brazil, because I understand that Argentina perhaps does not want to do it in a framework regional”.
04:52: In a press release, the Tarn-et-Garonne prefecture provided an update on the mobilization of farmers that occurred in the evening in Montauban. “From 6:30 p.m., around forty tractors converged towards the Albasud commercial zone in Montauban”, explains the text which specifies that “200 people were present during this demonstration, organized at the call of the FDSEA 82 and Young Farmers 82”.
The prefecture adds that “various waste” was dumped and ignited at a roundabout, and that the fire “is likely to persist until the early hours of the day”.
Then, “the agricultural machinery headed towards the town center of Montauban to carry out new spills, in particular in front of the Departmental Directorate of Territories and in front of the Forestié site, housing the services of the Departmental Directorate of Public Finances”, declares the press release which specifies that 70 law enforcement officers were present, as well as firefighters, to supervise the demonstrators.
