At least 10 dead and around 40 injured… By targeting this residential area in Odessa in broad daylight, Russia is maintaining pressure on Ukraine. The Russian strike comes as Washington has just authorized the Ukrainians to use American long-range missiles to strike Russian territory. The ATACMS missiles, hundreds of which had already been received by the Ukrainian army last year, could only be used on Ukrainian soil in defense.

Does this change in doctrine come too late when Ukraine is struggling on the front? Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remains cautious: “Strikes are not done with words. Such things are not announced. The missiles will speak for themselves, I am sure”. With a range of 300 km, the long-range missiles allow the Ukrainians to hit targets in Russia, but according to some experts, the Russians would have had time to move their most strategic equipment.
