The Hospices de Beaune (Côte d'Or) wine sale took place this Sunday with very special godparents for this 164th edition. France Bleu revealed this unique casting to us with the aim of raising the stakes for the Beaune Premier Cru “Les Bressandes”, the charity piece of the sale.
The stars were there to represent two associations: the Global Gift Foundation for Eva Longoria and Jean Reno but also Médecins sans Frontières for Zabou Breitman and Dominic West. “We’re going to do something crazy,” exclaimed Zabou Breitman.
The sale started at 60,000 euros and ended at 360,000 euros
“We want to reach a million dollars,” roared Dominic West. The stars took turns on the microphone to encourage buyers to increase the initial bid which was 60,000 euros. After a show led by the godparents, the sale ended at 360,000 euros, or 10,000 euros more than last year.
But the wine sale ended with a major surprise for the two associations and their representatives: a buyer also made a donation of 100,000 euros, thus increasing the sum that will be paid to the associations to 460,000 euros.
