The economic, political and associative world is in mourning, following the announcement of the death of Jean-Paul Jouanelle this morning in Fort-de-France at the age of 72, during a sports session.

Born in 1952 in Mali to Marie-Paule Vilo and Félix Jouanelle, administrator of Overseas France. He was open-minded and very wise. Some said the wisdom of the griots, one thing is certain it is in this crucible that the passion for history, culture and martial arts.

After a brilliant experience at school and obtaining his baccalaureate in August 1969, he continued his studies in France at the Albert Mun School in Nogent sur Marne. With a history degree in hand, he joined the Institute of Political Studies to obtain his diploma, international relations section, specialization: “European issues”.

He began this in the office of Claude Cheysson, Commissioner for Development at the Commission of the European Communities in the 1980s.

A year later he became parliamentary assistant to the Guadeloupean socialist deputy, Frédéric Jalton. He is in contact with the tenors of rue Solférino Michel Rocard, Laurent Fabius, François Hollande, Lionel Jospin. Jack Lang.

In 1989, he found himself chief of staff to Albert Fleming, mayor of Saint-Martin. In 1991 he was press attaché in the ministry of Louis le Pensec and later spokesperson for the Rocard government.

In January 2002, he returned to Martinique at the request of Claude Lise, then president of the general council. He successively held the positions of director of the president’s office, coordination of cultural facilities, management of the earth sciences discovery center in Saint-Pierre, then joined the technical management of the general council.

In April 2010, he was general delegate of Contact-Entreprises, the communication body for Martinican businesses.

In addition to his various activities, he was passionate about martial arts and karate in particular.

In recent years, he has distinguished himself within the association which organizes the festival of the rebels of the world and the Martinique biosphere reserve of the world.
